Welcome to our first tobacco prevention blog! We will be using this space to communicate directly with tobacco retailers. We are here to answer any questions you may have, provide you with educational materials, and give you a better idea of the work we are doing. Our number one goal is to work with you, the retailer, to keep tobacco out of the hands of minors.
Our region consists of Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, and Washtenaw Counties. We have two Designated Youth Tobacco Use Representatives (DYTUR) covering the four counties. The job of our DYTURs is to help you and your employees identify minors, and prevent them from purchasing tobacco. We do that by educating store employees on what the state expects from them, and helping them to develop and implement policies within their stores.
Again, we are here to help you avoid costly penalties that can result from you or your employee selling tobacco products to minors. Check back as we will be posting helpful tips!
