Tobacco Retailers

Karen Bergbower & Associates  provides  Designated Youth Tobacco Use Representatives (DYTUR) for Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, and Washtenaw Counties. The primary role of a DYTUR is to ensure that tobacco retailers are educated and aware of their responsibilities when it comes to keeping tobacco out of the hands of youth.  Our goal is to have 100% compliance in all of our stores and we want to help you succeed.

The
Tobacco Vendor Education Best Practice Recommendations, is an outline of recommended policies and procedures for tobacco retailers. The Michigan Tobacco Retailer Kit provides a more thorough look at those practices and provides retailers with information on  Michigan tobacco laws and penalties.

Tobacco retailers are required to display both the Youth Tobacco Act sign, and the "birth year" sign. The state will mail these signs out and/or one of our DYTURs will personally deliver them to your store shortly after the first of the year. If you need replacements or extra signs please feel free to  contact Alison Cox.  Alison is happy to send retailers additional signage if needed. Retailers can also use the following links to print out signs on their own.
